The 2000's saw a greater opportunity and encouragement for immigrating to Germany . However, this prospect is brighter for the highly skilled laborers rather that the low skilled ones. On 1 st of January 2005 the New German Immigration Act was declared. This Act made sure that the highly qualified persons were granted work permission and permanent residence easily. They must, however obtain permission from the German Employment Agency and have a concrete job offer. The immigrants would also have to acquire work and residency permission from the German Embassy in their home country. The highly skilled workers can also bring in their families and in course of time even they can acquire the right to work in Germany.
Foreign students will also reap some benefit out of these Acts. They will now be allowed to stay back in Germany for a year to look for a job, if they wish to. Even the Self-employed immigrants are encouraged to immigrate, they have to invest at least one million Euro and assure the employment of 10Germans.
Immigration to Germany has become more tempting and easy with the new Act of 2005 which replaced the not so successful German Green Card Initiative.
