Frankfurt Germany


Frankfurt Germany is a global city juxtaposing gothic cathedrals and modern skyscrapers, a medieval city that revived with jet speed after the hazards of 2 nd world war.

Frankfurt is Germany's largest metropolitan city located at the centre of larger Frankfurt Rhine Main Area., on the Main River. With population over 5 million, Frankfurt is the financial and transportation centre of Germany. European Central Bank and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange are situated in Frankfurt. The economy of Frankfurt is based on finance, trade and transport fairs. There are other commercial banks based in Frankfurt like Deutsche Bank, Dresdner Bank and Commerzbank.

The city of Frankfurt has been the city of coronation. The Saint Bartholomeus Cathedral is the remains of the Holy Roman Empire of the German nation who has been ruling this city from 855 to 1792. Frankfurt was the revolutionary capital during 1948-49 and the first democratic Frankfurt Parliament met in Frankfurt's St.Paul's Church.

Germans call the city Frankfurt am Main , and in English dialect it is Frankfurt. The city has other nicknames like Mainhattan, Bankfurt and the Big Appel. After the bombardment of World War II, a significant number of high rise skyscrapers were built in Frankfurt. It has Europe's tallest buildings like the Commerzbank Tower, MesseTurm and the Kronenhochhaus (DZ-Bank) renowned for its "statue of liberty" like roof structure. Other skyscrapers include Silver Tower, Maintower and Trianon.

The transport infrastructure of Frankfurt is excellent. The city can be accessed from all over the world through the Frankfurt International Airport. The city has extensive underground transportation facility including the subway train system S-bahn and U-bahn. The excellent bus system of Frankfurt caters all over the city and also in the neighboring suburbs. Though the roads and streets of Frankfurt are congested, there are many car parks located in significant places. There are bicycles let for hire, found at the major road intersections and railway station. Apart from the only-pedestrian walks, Frankfurt has excellent routes of modern cycle throughout the city. The velotaxis, triple cycle with a 2 seater capsule at the top, cater all over the city centre.

Frankfurt is also a centre of culture and education in Germany . The Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität and Business School of Finance and Management are two significant universities in Frankfurt. The oldest and famous museums include Städel and Senckenberg Natural History Museum.

Frankfurt Germany is a multicultural and multilingual city that welcomes visitors with cozy and warm reception. The museums along the river Main, the gothic architecture and skyscrapers gives a unique character to Frankfurt.
