Dresden, Germany


Dresden, Germany , situated near the valley of the River Elbe, is the capital city of Saxony. Dresden, meaning people of the riverside forest, is a part of the Saxon Triangle metropolitan area. The total population of the area is around over 3.2 million. By years, Dresden has surfaced out to be the cultural, political, and economic centre of the eastern Germany. Dresden is the fourth largest urban centre after Berlin, Hamburg, and Cologne.

Lying on both the banks of Rv. Elbe, Dresden is composed of Dresden Elbe Valley Basin. It stretches from eastern Ore Mountains to the steeply sloped granite crust of the Lusatian. The north is covered by Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The city of Dresden, Germany is made of Baroque-style architecture and also sometimes called as Elbflorenz.

Cold-moderate and continental climatic conditions surfaces the city of Dresden, Germany . The average summer temperature is around 1-3°C whereas, summers usually range from 25°C at midnight. Topographically, Dresden is made of green lands and forests. Dresden Heathland or Dresdner Heide is a fully forest region that covers 50 square km. There are four nature reserves, protected gardens, parkways, parks and old graveyards.

Among other favorite spots to tour around there are 110 natural monuments in Dresden, Germany. The city is also wealthy in music, culture and art works. There many operas and orchestras that are played occasionally including:

Some of the royal buildings structures of Dresden comprise of Zwinger Palace, Brühl's Terrace, Pillnitz Castle, church of HofkircheThe Hofkirche, Russian Orthodox Church are few to name. These castles are of Renaissance, Baroque and Classicist styles.

Being an important industrial centre of Eastern Germany, Dresden is well connected city with various types of transport facility. The city is famous for it longest tramway, called the CarGoTram, that crosses Dresden in the northwest from west to east.

The two main inter-city transit hubs are Dresden Hauptbahnhof and Dresden-Neustadt and runs trains to Berlin, Prague, Leipzig and Chemnitz.

Dresden Klotzsche Airport is the international airport of the city that is situated at the north-western outskirts.
