Come Walk With Me – The Grand Central, New York

Who am I? Am I a tourist? Am I a traveler? Am I an entrepreneur looking out for business opportunities? Who am I, and why do I just move around and am willing to walk anywhere in this world? I am sure, I am a traveler and I walk because I want to experience this world and I wish to share my experiences with others, and encourage them to step out as well, and know this world better.

One of my walks took me to the Grand Central Terminal in New York. It took me time to come to terms with walking around in a living monument. Yes, I would love to call it a living monument as also inscribed on the gateway to this magnificent piece of architecture.

My first expression after recovering from one of the most pleasant shocks of my life was, “What is this?” and that is what got me working on this. I walked around aimlessly for a couple of hours within the terminal and trying to get a hang of how this terminal lives, how it breathes and how it eats, sleeps, and, of course, allows people to travel from point A to point B. The whole experience was amazing. Having done that, I decided to comeback with my cameras and walk once more. Next day, I was back. Few hours and a few hundred photographs as raw stock later, I could tell myself what the Grand Central is.

I had to tell my story and I had to pick and choose photographs that defined the story, and complemented it or supplemented it as I narrated the same. A few days later, I got around to writing my experiences about a liberal mingling of a utility with art, food, culture and shopping. So, here is my story on Grand Central Terminal.
