BMW Sauber




BMW Sauber is a popular Formula One team and has had a number of famous drivers as the team members. The team is based in Munich in Germany as well as in the municipality of Hinwil in Switzerland. It was towards the end

of 2005 that the team was formed as a result of the merging of the Sauber Formula One and BMW. It occurred when Sauber was taken over by BMW, a German based car manufacturer.

The BMW Sauber Formula One team has completed 25 races in the Formula One circuit. It has Mario Theissen as the Team Principal and Willy Rampf as the Technical director. Till the 2006 season, the two race drivers of the team are ninth seeded Formula One driver Nick Heidfeld and the tenth seeded Robert Kubica. Sebastian Vettel and Timo Glock are the two test drivers.

The BMW Sauber Formula One team uses the BMW P86/7 engine and Bridgestone tyres. At the end of the 2006 season, the team was in the 6th position among the Formula One teams with 36 points. The team has had a few changes in the 2007 season. It has Nick Heidfeld as one of the drivers. Sebastian Vettel has been appointed as the other driver.
