Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton was born on 7th January 1985 in Tewin. He is a British car racer, who started karting when he was 8 years old. At the age of 10, he approached the manager of McLaren, Ron Dennis,

and told him that one day he would join McLaren team. He participated in Junior Yamaha, Junior Intercontinental, Intercontinental A, Formula A and Formula Super A, before participating in Formula One in 2007.

Some of the major events that preceded the Formula One championship in Hamilton's career are 2004 Formula Three Euroseries, Spa-Francorchamps, ART Grand Prix and British Grand Prix.

Given below are some of the milestones of Lewis Hamilton's career:

• 2002-Occupied the 3rd position in Formula Renault series.
• 2003-Acquired the Formula Renault title with 11 pole positions, 10 race victories and 9 fastest laps.
• 2004-Selected for Formula Three Euroseries.
• 2005-Won 10 fastest laps, 15 wins and 13 pole positions in the Formula Three Euro series.
• 2006-Won GP2 championship and qualified for the his First Formula One test as a McLaren driver.
• 2007-Scored podiums in about 9 races. He outperformed Fernando Alonso by securing 6 poles and 4 wins. He lost to Kimi Raikkonen and secured a 2nd position.

In December 2007, Heikki and Hamilton were declared to represent the McLaren team in 2008 Formula One.
