A formula one racer is admired and idolized in many parts of the world for his courage and amazing speed that he churns out on the racing tracks. It takes lot of hard work and patience to become a good formula one driver.

There are several formula one racing schools where adequate training is provided to formula one racers. There are certain must-have qualities in a formula one racer - a combination of quick reflex action and a knack for high speed.

Formula One racers have to undergo a very tough schedule to win a race. They often have to work for 15 hours at the race track. They spend hours with their teams. The Formula One racers have to check the condition of their cars and work out their strategies for the race day. The racers set out for practice early in the morning. Just before the race day, the racers have to attend two practice sessions and then a warm-up before their cars are actually qualified. Formula One racers have to follow the regulations set by the Federation Internationale de I'Automobile or the FIA.

On race day, the most popular Formula 1 racers are required to get their own helicopter to the circuit for their personal benefit, to avoid jams created by their fans. racers should wear helmets which meet the FIA standard 8860-2004 – Advanced Helmet Test Specification. All racers are supposed to wear overalls, long underwear, a balaclava, socks and shoes homologated to the FIA 8856-2000 standard. Besides, the racers should ensure that the garments are loose as this increases the level of protection.

racers need to attend the gym daily to be perfectly fit for the races. Within 48 hours of the race day, the Formula One racer has to follow the same daily routine, developing and improving his car for the next race. Many Formula One racers have become famous for their performance of the tracks. Some of them are Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso, Gueseppe Farino, Jim Clark, Nigel Mansell, Jacques Villeneuve, Jack Brabham, Juan Manuel Fangio, Mika Hakkinen, Mike Hawthorn and Lewis Hamilton.
