Formula One Monaco

Monaco Grand Prix is the most glamorous and the most dangerous Formula One fixture at the same time. The enduring appeal and prestige of the championship have earned it the appellation of the 'Jewel of the Formula One' crown.

This favorite backyard of Ayrton Senna and Mr. Monaco Graham Hill is a network of twisty city streets running through dangerous ends with varied elevations.

Circuit de Monaco, set within the streets of Monte Carlo is probably the only modern circuit to be entirely situated amidst the city. The circuit is 3.34 km. long and 78 laps add up to a total of 260.52 km.
What adds to the curiosity is the fact, that the city streets are made open for the public on Friday, following the practice day on Thursday, before the actual race commences on Saturday.

Monaco Grand Prix started long before the beginning of he modern Formula One Championship, way back in 1929. The venue, which was a part of the Second world War Championship was also an important venue of the first Formula One World Championship in 1950.

The Monaco Grand Prix has been a story of individual dominations. If Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna were the only two drivers to win the race between 1984 and 1993, Graham Hill, with his continuous five wins in the sixties earned the appellation of Mr. Monaco. Senna finally became the driver to win the Monaco Grand Prix for a record six times, unsurpassed by any other driver till date.
