Japan is considered to be one of the most important location for the Formula One Championship in the world. Fuji Speedway, a renowned Formula One Championship track in Japan is hosting the Championship
Initially, the length of the Fuji Speedway was four kilometers. This track contained some sharp and serious bends and curves that resulted in few major accidents. Keeping this in mind the authorities decided to extend the length of the track. Finally, by the end of 1976 the Fuji Speedway was re-opened and its new length is around four and half kilometers. The first race took place between James Hunt and Niki Lauda. Niki Lauda withdrew due to bad weather, while Hunt gave a good fight on the wet track. However, the race was won by Mario Andretti. This track consists of 12 bends or corners. The record of fastest lap on this track was earned by Jody Scheckter for Wolf-Ford.
Suzuka International Racing Course is another prime venue for the Formula One Championship. It is located in Suzuka City in Mie Prefecture and is owned by Honda Motor Company. It has a layout structure resembling figure eight. The length is 5.8km and has 17 runs. The fastest lap record on this track goes to Michael Schumacher for Ferrari in 2006.
