Honda Formula One team run by Japanese car manufacturer Honda is based in Brackley, United Kingdom. Honda uses the facilities of the fully acquired British American Racing. Honda's debut appearance in the Formula One Grand Prix racing was in 1963, just three years after producing their first road car. They began development of the RA271 in 1962 and with their all-Japanese factory team except for American drivers Ronnie Bucknum and Richie Ginther. They shocked the European-dominated Formula One garages. The outstanding achievement of Honda was in building specialized engine like Ferrari and BRM. At the 1965 Mexican Grand Prix, only their second year of competition, Honda Formula One stood victorious with Ginther's win in the RA272 and reached the coveted step of the podium. In 1966 Honda introduced the RA273 which had its own limitations and it paved way to the all new Honda RA300, which driven by John Surtees won the 1967 Italian Grand Prix. However, after RA300, Honda Formula One failed to live up to its expectations.
Honda Formula One team have managed to grab three Grand Prix wins, which include 1965 Mexican Grand Prix, 1967 Italian Grand Prix and 2006 Hungarian Grand Prix. It achieved pole positions in 1968 Italian Grand Prix and 2006 Australian Grand Prix.
At present Shuhei Nakamoto is the technical director of the team. There are three test drivers and the engine model used is Honda RA807E.
