Formula One France

France has earned a name of repute as far as Formula One World Championship is concerned. France is the proud owner of a famous Grand Prix circuit known as Circuit de Nevers Magny- Cours. This circuit is located in France

close to the towns of Magny-Cours and Nevers. It has been hosting the Formula One World Championship from 1991 onwards. In 2007 it will be organizing this spectacular event on the 1st of July. However, the chief of the Formula One World Championship has declared that this is the last time the Formula One is being held here.

The Circuit de Nevers Magny- Cours was built by Jean Bernigaud in 1960. It gave birth to some eminent racers of all times like Francois Cevert and Jacques Laffite. The condition of the track is favorable by the participants as it is smooth and can accommodate a substantial number of spectators. The corners or the bends have been named after famous circuits like Estoril corner and the Adelaide hairpin. This circuit does not provide much opportunity of overtaking and hence chances of accidents are also less. The circuit length is 4.41km with 17 runs. The lap record goes to Michael Schumacher with his Ferrari in 2004.
