Formula One Flags




Flags are important mediums for communication in the race circuit of Formula One Championship. The Flag Marshall as they are popularly called wave Flags to communicate special non-verbal messages to the racers as they pass the track. A specially designed system in the driver's

cockpit enable him to spot the Flag. This type of communication is easier for the racers as it is impossible for them to receive any verbal communication at such high speeds.

Chequered Flag is waived after the end of the session. It is shown at the fixed time during the practice and at the qualifying round. This Flag is first shown to the winner and then to the rest of the team members. Yellow Flag is used to indicate to danger. If the Yellow Flag is waived once it indicates the driver to slow down and if it is waived twice at the same point then it indicates the driver to slow down and to stop if necessary. White Flag gives the indication if a slow moving vehicle on the track. Green Flag indicates that the restrictions set up by the Yellow Flag has been withdrawn and everything is set free to go. Red Flag indicates that the race have somehow been postponed either due to accident or bad weather condition.
