Istanbul



Situated on Bosphorus Strait, the city of Istanbul is an ideal site for tourism in Turkey. The city offers a wide range of tourist attractions including museums, castles and mosques. The best time to visit this city of Turkey is during the spring and autumn months, when the climate of the city remains temperate.

One of the 2008 Formula One venues, Istanbul is situated on Bosphorus Strait surrounded by the Sea of Marmara and Golden Horn. This city of Turkey had been the capital of a number of empires including Ottoman, Roman and Byzantine empires. Istanbul was included in the World Heritage List of UNESCO in the later part of the 20th century. It is referred to as Byzantium and Constantinople in the history of the ancient world.

Istanbul becomes extremely hot and humid during summers and very cold during winters. During the winters, the city receives heavy snowfall and precipitation. As a result, traveling in Istanbul during these months is not a good option. To visit Istanbul, autumn and spring are said to be the most favorable seasons. Travelers can plan their trip to Istanbul between September to October or between April to June. This city of Turkey experiences a moderate climate during these periods, with the temperature ranging between 16ºC to 25ºC. Humidity is also not very high during spring and autumn in Istanbul. Therefore, traveling during these months can be quite pleasurable.

Surrounded by the seven hills and the ruins of the Roman city walls, it is one of the most visited tourists sites in Turkey. Istanbul, with its beautiful mosques and castles, offers a lot in terms of tourism. The German Fountain, The Mosaic Museum, The Cistern of Thousands and One Columns, The Serpent Column, The Egyptian Obelisk, Vakiflar Carpet and Kilim, The Walled Obelisk, The Blue Mosque, The Tiled Pavillion, Finds of the Great Palace, Hagia Sophia Museum, The Military Museum, The Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts and Sadberk Hanim Museum are some of the famous tourist spots that add to the brilliance of the city.

Furthermore, Istanbul also houses a number of hotels, where the tourists can look for accommodation.
