2008 Formula One Season
would witness the clash of some of the greatest contenders in the Formula One circuit. The battle of race between 11 teams would be a treat for the eyes. Last year's champion Kimi Raikkoken from the Ferrari team is the favorite this time, though Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso from the McLaren are also flexing their muscles. The race circuits and the galleries have been decorated nicely to celebrate the grand race of pace.
2008 Formula One Season has already begun with the beginning of the winter season. The 2008 formula One Championship has already started making ripples in the world sports arena. The Formula One fanatics are ecstatic on one hand and on the other hand they have also crossed their fingers and folded their hands for prayers so that their favorites win the championship. The Beginning of 2008 Grand Prix Season
FIA has announced the date on which the festival and celebration of speed begins. The
2008 F1 season will commence from 16th March, 2008 and will continue till 2nd November, 2008. This is the 59th year of the Formula One Championship and therefore special for the FIA since it is approaching its diamond jubilee, the 60th year of FIA. The date has been officially announced by the FIA and it is reported that 11 teams with their members are participating in this race. This F1 Championship is the first one after the Concorde Agreement was settled. All these 11 teams have fixed grid positions.
Teams that Would Battle It Out
The FIA chief Max Mosley announced date on which the interested F1 teams had to file their applications. It was on 14th February, 2006 when this announcement took place. It was said that a seven days period will be given to the teams to file their application. Eleven teams had filed their applications to seek permission to be able to take part in the grand race. After the rules and regulations were revised, it was decided that only 12 places would be made available. On 28th April the sanction was given by the authority and the list of the teams was published. The participating teams are:
- Williams
- Ferrari
- Red Bull
- Super Aguri
- Spyker
- Toro Rosso
- Renault
- Toyota
- Honda
- McLaren-Mercedes
- BMW Sauber
The Schedule for the Greatest Battle of Speed
The inauguration race will be held in Australia on the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit. Apart from this some of the other venues are:
- Spanish GP at the Circuit de Catalunya on 27th April
- Monaco GP at the Circuit de Monaco. This is a street circuit on 25th May
- British GP at the Silverstone circuit on 6th July
- Italian GP at the Autodromo Nazionale circuit on 14th September
- Japanese GP at Fuji Sppedway circuit on 12th October
- Singapore GP at the street circuit of Singapore on 28th September
The 2007 winner Kimi Raikkoken from the Ferrari is participating this year also. The McLaren-Mercedes team will also play their runners up, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso in 2008 formula One Championship.
