Singapore Grand Prix 2008









Singapore Grand Prix 2008, scheduled to debut in Formula One series on September 28, 2008, will be one of the scintillating moments in the history of auto sports. The most dramatic and gala event of the year will be held under lights in the streets of Singapore.

The Singapore Grand Prix 2008 will be held on 28th September in the streets of the Marina Bay.
The grand finale on Sunday will be preceded by the practice session and the qualifying rounds on Friday and Sunday.

Racing Circuit


The Singapore Grand Prix would be held in the street circuit that encircles Marina Bay. The circuit has been prepared to provide immense opportunities for ambitious overtakes and challenging and quick turns. The circuit length stretches for 5.067 kilometers. The race will be run in the anticlockwise motion. The atmosphere of glitz and glamor will be prepared with the lights shining down on the crowded streets on September, 28.

Racing Schedule of Singapore Grand Prix 2008


The first practice session will be held on Friday, September 26 from 4 P.M to 5.30 P.M. The second session commences from 8 P.M to 9.30 P.M. On Saturday, September 27, the final practice session will be held between 5 and 6 P.M. This will be followed by the qualifying round that starts at 8 P.M. The flag will be raised on the grand finale at 8 P.M.

Tickets for the Race


The tickets for 2008 Singapore Grand Prix are presently not available. It is believed that approximately 80,000 tickets will be available for the auto racing championship.

The Legacy


Prior to this year, the auto racing competition in Singapore was known as the Malaysian Grand Prix. After the nation gained its independence in 1965, the competition was renamed Singapore Grand Prix. Thomas Road was the then street racing circuit. Some of the winners of of the previous races are listed below:

Increase in traffic and fatal accidents in the past were causes for which auto racing in Singapore was discontinued. Countering all challenges, the country is geared to host the grand event in September, 2008.
