Formula One Rules
The Formula One Rules have been worked out and implemented by FIA – Formula International de l'Automobile and FISA – Federation International du Sport Automobile with the objectives of ensuring smooth and safe running of Formula One races. The Formula One Rules and regulations can be classified under technical and sporting aspects.

Formula One Rules are discussed below:
Formula One Sporting Rules
- At the end of the qualifying session, the participating teams have to park their cars in the Parc Ferme. They are not allowed to touch the cars until the next morning.
- The scoring is done according to the positions acquired by the racers. The winner gets 10 points, the runners up – 8 points, the second runners up – 6 points. The fourth placed team collects 5 points. Fifth gets 4 points, sixth receives 3, seventh collects 2 and the eight placed team gathers only one point.
- The teams must obey the flags held by the race marshals at different points of the track. A yellow flag signifies danger ahead, a red flag announces the end of the race or practice session, the green flag convey the all clear signal and a black flag indicates the driver to return to his pit. Apart from these flags several other flags like the red and yellow stripes, the black and white checkered flag, the black flag with orange circle, blue flag and the white flag carry specific directions.
- There are rules regarding the schedule of the race like refueling time, opening of pit-lanes, starting of the race and so on.
- Rules for penalizing the teams fore committing offenses like premature start, causing accident, pi-lane speeding, unfair blocking, not obeying the flags and several other infringements. The penalties depend on the level of rule violation and ranges from the ten seconds penalty to exclusion from the World Drivers Championship.
Formula One Technical Rules
- The width of any Formula One car should not cross the 180 Centimeters limit.
- The cars should be supported by four wheels.
- The chassis should contain a safety cell.
- The cars must use V8 engines with a displacement of 24.4 Liters.
- Steel or cast iron made crankshaft should be use.
- Cars must comply to the rules regarding on-board computer and electronic systems.
The above mentioned rules are just a gist of the detailed, general F1 rules. These rules have undergone some changes in the new season.
