The colors of the Luxembourg Flag had been branded around 1830 during the Belgian revolution. The flag was designed in 1845. The flag of Luxembourg is inspired from that of the French flag.
The Luxembourg Flag is almost similar to the Netherlands flag; except that the blue color of the Luxembourg flag is lighter than that of Netherlands flag.

The colors of the flag of Luxembourg have been based on the 13th century coat of arms of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg. The coat of arms featured a red lion with a background of white and blue stripes.
