Guadeloupe is an overseas province of France. It is both an overseas department and a region lying in the Caribbean. The flag of Guadeloupe has a white background where an emblem demonstrating a conventionalized bird and sun on a blue-and-green tetragon, is put in the middle.
Under the symbol, REGION GUADELOUPE is written with yellow underscores. This flag is the unofficial flag of the country, and the French tricolor is used as the formal flag of the territory.

Protocol

The tricolor of France is used for all formal events. The white color symbolizes the monarchs and blue and red signify the coat of arms of Paris.

Alternative Designs

Another flag for the territory has been suggested by the Independentist People's Union for the Liberation of Guadeloupe, which is quite similar to that of Suriname. The authorized national flag used in the country is the French tricolor.

Other unofficial flags are also used in the territory. Flags with a red or black background, with a green sugarcane and yellow sun, and a blue band with golden sword lilies on the upper-side are frequently used.

Another design features three parallel stripes - green (at the top), a broad red stripe in the middle, and a thin green stripe at the bottom. The green stripes are detached from the red stripe with two thin white borders. To the left, there is also a yellow five-pointed star in the middle of the red stripe.
