Christmas Island is a federal Australian province. The regional administration is managed by the Shire of the Island, which formally accepted an ensign informally in force from 1986. It is a horizontal flag.

Christmas Island Flag
Introduction:
The flag features a blue/green slanting panel with a small constellation of four seven-pointed white stars and one tinier five-pointed white star on the blue segment, a golden ring in the middle holding the outline of the island in green, and a Golden Bosun Bird on the green segment.

History
The flag of Christmas Island was informally approved in 1986 by the Shire. It was designed by Tony Couch of Sydney, Australia. In spite of its nomination and strong support, the flag was not formally adopted by the Christmas Island Assembly until the Australia Day in 2002, when the overseer of the province, Bill Taylor, gave the ensign to the Shire of the Island.
