Finland Hockey is regarded as one of the top ranked ice hockey teams in the world. This team is controlled by
Finnish Ice Hockey Association. The
hockey team of Finland is included in the group of Big Seven along with USA, Russia, Sweden, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Canada.

Finland Ice Hockey Team comprises of 52,597 registered players. In the World Championship in 1995 Finland defeated Sweden with a score of 4-1. The present coach of the Finnish Ice Hockey Team is Doug Shedden. The first game of ice hockey was played between Sweden and Finland in January 1929 and Finland lost the game with a score of 8-1. The greatest victory for Finland came in the year 1960 against Australia with a score of 19-2.The worst defeat Finland got was in the year 1958 against Canada and the score was 24-0.
In the history of women’s hockey in Finland the first bronze medal came by defeating China with a score of 4-1. Finland bagged a gold medal in 1995 at European A Championship, which took place in Latvia. In the European A Championships in the year 1991, 1993, 1995 and 1989 Finland stood in the first position. In 1996 it came third. There is also the Finnish women ice hockey team regulated by the
Finnish Ice Hockey Federation. This team bagged the bronze medal in 1998. Some of the noted players are Satu Kiipeli, Karolina Rantamaki, Emma Laaksonen and few others.
