University of Oulu is a community with 3100 employee members and 15800 students. The main Educational areas of the University of Oulu are Information technology, Northern and Environmental issues and Biotechnology. The University of Oulu has Lauri Lajunen as its rector. The main areas of study at the University of Oulu are the survival strategies of animal and man in varying light conditions. Other fields of study focus on man's material and intellectual cultures along with his influences in the Northern regions of the globe.
Oulu University Finland is blessed with a wide scientific base thus enabling it to dive into studies involving the state of nature and preservation of the same. The main campus of the University of Oulu is on Linnanmaa. The other one containing the Faculty of Medicine is placed near the Oulu University Hospital. The third campus has found the town of Kajaani as its roots. The campus at Linnanmaa houses a majority of the university students. It is also important because of the university's Botanical Gardens and Zoological Museum placed at its heart. A small chapel along with a sports hall is also present.
