Salo Finland




Located in the province of western Finland, Salo is a town and also a municipality of the country. It has a population of 24,878 people and an area of 143.82 square kilometers is covered.
The municipality of Salo is unilingual with the Finnish language. From the 16th century Salo Finland was a small town. In the Finnish language Salo means uninhabited forest. Salo is considered as the native town of Nokia phones.

After the Helsinki and Mariehamn, Salo is considered to be the most international city. The transport of Salo is very strong with buses running all the time to and fro Helsinki and Turku. There is also 24 hr bus service available to the Helsinki-Vantaa airport. Salo had become an electronics driven town from early 1920s when two inhabitants of Salo started manufacturing radio sets.

There are about 1,000 students in the Turku Polytechnic University of the Salo branch. The courses in the Salo are so designed so as to give the students the best of the training related to the business and the industrial world. The Uskela church in Salo stands high on the hills of the Uskela church hill. This church was designed by the famous architect of Finland C.L.Engel.
