The present Finland Prime Minister is Matti Vanhanen. Matti Vanhanen is a democratically elected politician and belongs to the Center Party of Finland.
The Finland Prime Minister is nominated to the ministerial office by following the provisions described in the new Constitution of Finland. The new Constitution of Finland was enacted in 2000. According to the new constitution, the President of Finland nominates the Prime Minister of Finland. This is done after the political parties of the country have completed the negotiation of seats in the newly formed Council of State. The Finnish Parliament must support the Prime Ministerial candidate with an absolute majority in the house. The process is a consensual one. The elected Prime Minister then recommends the names of the remaining members of the Council of State. The process in concluded with the final approval of the President.
The Present Finnish Prime Minister is a Political Science graduate. He earned his Master's Degree in Social Sciences in 1989. Matti Vanhanen was a professional journalist and worked in one of the premier newspapers of Finland. He is known politically as to be a part of the liberal group in his Center Party membership. Matti Vanhanen is a teetotaler and a left handed person.
