Fiji Health is an important part of the chief concerns of the government of Fiji. The islands constituting the Fiji archipelago are free from most of the endemic diseases that are considered as problems in the other tropical countries. The Fiji Government wants to preserve this bliss of Fiji.

The total population of Fiji is approximately 848,000. The life expectancy rate at birth is 66 years for male and 72 years for female. The probability of dying within five years of birth is 18 per 1000 population. For male the probability of dying within 15 to 60 years is 265 per 1000 population whereas for female it is 166 per 1000 population.

Fiji health is one of the most rigid sectors. The tourists visiting need a permit to ensure that any sort of plant or animal carried by them is free from diseases. The animals brought in by the tourists are placed in Quarantine so as to avoid any contamination of the health of life forms in Fiji.

The government is trying hard to meet the demand for increasing health facilities in Fiji. Private practitioners of medicine are available. Chemist shops and pharmacies scattered throughout the islands also have a good supply of medicines. Hospitals, clinics, health centers and medical centers run by the government provide health facilities to the people.

The threats to Fiji health include the occasional outbreak of dengue fever though it is controlled in recent times. The common ailments like sunstroke and stomach upsets are caused during the rainy season.
