Fiji Island Women are getting ample opportunities in all arenas of life. Special steps were taken at the Seventh Women's or Gender Affairs Ministers’ meeting conducted in 2004. This international platform gave the South Pacific women a chance to enhance and build advocacy on the equality and equity of genders. The meeting took place for four days and it is held after every four years.
The current program on the empowerment of Fiji women is undertaken by Women's Social and Economic Development Program (WOSED) The program puts emphasis on the total development of women in terms of social, economic and political issues.
