Christmas is one time when the whole world dresses up. Trees and houses are decorated, and cities are adorned with lights.
New York City - Christmas at the Big Apple is a treat for the eyes. The great city is lit up magnificently for all to see and enjoy. Some of the must-visit spots are the Rockefeller Center, Lincoln Park, Washington Center, Bryant Park, and Central Park. Another fantastic display is at the Winter Garden with its vista of palm trees illuminated by 100,00 white lights.
Newport Beach - This Californian beach holds a "Christmas parade" featuring 200 vessels all lit up and with music playing all over. A lot of harbor-facing houses also put up elaborate decorations and lighting to provide for a glittering backdrop for the parade, aptly named the "Ring of Lights".
Disney World, Orlando - Disney World is pretty much heaven and not only for kids. Now picture Christmas in heaven and that is what you have at Disneyland in the holidays. With its “The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights,” and the Mickey Mouse Christmas Parade, and the entire count of lights reaching 5 million, the happiest place on the planet just got a whole lot happier!
Denver - Christmas time in Denver is an affair with lights. The 9NEWS Parade of lights is a must-see with its glittering show. Denver Zoo also puts its best foot forward with over 150 lit-up animal sculptures.
Chicago - With the city covered in snow making it a typical white Christmas in Chicago, the highlight is the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival where 200 trees are adorned with over a million lights, flanking the shopping strip of the city.
Branson - This city in Missouri is converted into a Christmas hotbed for the holidays, with over a 1,000 trees lighting up the 1880's style theme park Silver Dollar City. This park also features the famous musically inclined Christmas tree and a sound-and-light show.
McAdenville - Dubbed the "Christmas town of USA", this sleepy little North Carolina town gets a spectacular make-over at Christmas. Thanks to the active collaboration of the residents, over 350 trees in this town get decorated with red and green lights, making it an absolute delight to witness.
San Antonio - This city in Texas displays its Christmas spirit by turning on 1.8 million lights strung on 200 trees and 20 bridges all done up in festive holiday colors.
Virginia - The state of Virginia celebrates Christmas with their marvellous "100 Miles of Lights", where strings of lights connecting the six cities of Richmond, Williamsburg, Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk and Virginia Beach.
Baltimore - The 34th Street of Baltimore is decorated with holiday bric-a-brac of giant snowglobes, musical trains, flashing angels, and lots and lots of light in keeping with the theme of “Miracle on 34th Street.” Don't miss the “Parade of Lighted Boats,” a gala event where more than 50 vessels decorated with holiday lights display Baltimore’s nautical history and Christmas cheer in its harbor.
