Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design
The establishment of the Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design, also known in short as the ETDM, in the year 1971, marked the realization of a dream that started in the later half of the 1950s. This museum stands as a hallmark in the preservation and development of several art forms scattered in the different parts of Estonia. The foundation of this museum was done on the 24th of November in 1971. However, the Estonian Museum of Art started working as a branch of the Estonian National Art Museum nine years later, from 18th of July, in the year 1980. It was on 1st February 2004 that this museum was renamed as the Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design.
The Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design was established in a building, which formerly acted as the granary of the city. The Applied Art and Design Museum in Estonia started with a collection of rare arts. Presently, the museum contains over 13,000 articles. These are made mainly of the following:

The Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design has been able to save a number of art forms of Estonia, which had come on the verge of extinction. It has also been successful in infusing new interest of a large number of people in different art forms and designs of Estonia.
