Estonia Politics and Government

The history of Estonia depicts that Estonia politics and government have undergone vast changes over the years after its independence. Estonia politics and government strive to stand for truth, justice and for the betterment of the people of Estonia.

Estonia is a democratic country with legislative power in Riggikogu, a unicameral legislature. The legislature, elected by the people for four years in turn appoints cabinet. The head of the cabinet is the prime Minister, who is also the head of the government of Estonia. The president is elected by the legislature and has limited executive power. The president can be elected for 5 years and can retain the seat for consecutive two terms in a row. Multi party system exists in the country and the president asks the party who has received the maximum number of votes to form the Estonia government. The main parties in the parliament include:
  • Estonian Centre Party
  • Estonian Reform Party
  • Union of Pro Patria and Res Publica
  • Estonian Greens
  • People's Union of Estonia
The government of Estonia follows decentralization of power. Judiciary is an independent body here. The adult suffrage age is eighteen years. Politics of Estonia follows the laws of the Republic of Estonia and is extremely fair.
