Estonia history dates back to a very long past. Estonia history probably can be traced from the period of about 8500 BC. The oldest human settlement in Estonia was done by the Pulli settlement located at the banks of the Parnu River.
The Estonians had settled before the Christian era started. In the middle ages the land of Estonia was conquered by the crusaders of the Danish people under the leadership of the king named Waldemar II who had arrived at around in the year 1219.
The history of Estonia is very rich and full of incidents. The Danes had founded Reval, what was later renamed as Tallinn and made the capital of the country. They were also the pioneers to start Christianity in Estonia and in introducing the culture of west Europe in the country of Estonia.
The northern part of Estonia was under the rule of Denmark. Later, the northern part of Estonia was taken over by the Swedes. The nationwide awareness in Estonia began to rouse from the middle of the 19th century but unfortunately it was suppressed hardly by the Russification. This resulted in the spread of rebellion.
Estonia played an important role in the Revolution of Russia. The consequence of the revolt of Russia in 1917 resulted in setting up communist regime in Estonia but without much success. After a long struggle in the year 1920 the independence of Estonia Europe was recognized by Soviet Russia by the Peace of Tartu. Again by the year 1940 Estonia was under the military rule of the Soviet Russia. Estonia finally had declared independence in 1991 and the new constitution came into effect from 1992.
