Estonia Topography

Estonia topography mainly consists of swampy plain and mountainous areas in the south eastern portion of the country. Estonia topography mostly comprises even land. The terrain structure of Estonia with the precipices in the coastal regions in the western and the northern parts of the country are the most prominent features of the topography of Estonia.

Topography Estonia also displays that the highlands of Estonia are usually 75 to 100 meters above sea level. In northern Estonia Europe there are the two plateaus of Viru and Harju having the altitude of 30 to 70 meters above the sea level.

In the southern part of Estonia there is the Ugandi plateau, which is a granite plateau. The high Estonian areas are Korvemaa and Central-Estonian Plain. The lowland of western part of Estonia is marshy and has limestone mounts.

The coastal stretches of the northern Estonia comprise a tapered strap of land between the Baltic Klint and the Gulf of Finland.
In this particular area there are several bays and peninsulas and also the Gulf of Finland's islands.

One of the remarkable features of the topography of Estonia is the Baltic Klint which is also popular by the name of North Estonian Klint. The Baltic Klint is one of the largest protective embankments of the north Europe.
