Estonia Flora and Fauna

Estonia flora and fauna has got enormous variety. The fauna of Estonia comprises about 64 species of mammals. There are large numbers of brown bear, lynx, wolf and European otter in Estonia. The flying squirrel is a rare species found in the region. The flora at Estonia presents approximately 538 species.

There are also a large number of birds found in Estonia. Large numbers of birds migrate from the Arctic to Estonia. Some species include common and velvet scoters, ducks, brent geese, barnacle geese, the Caspian tern, the red-breasted merganser, gulls, osprey, white-tailed eagle, golden eagle and so on. Wood wren and chaffinch are also found in abundance. Some species of fish found here are the Peipsi lavaret, Peipsi sparling, Aspius aspius, sheatfish, and many more. Some amphibians that have been spotted include newt, brown frog and natterjack. There are about 15,000 species of insects found in the country.

Some species of flora of Estonia are Siberian iris, sword lily, the long-leaved and red helleborines, black alder, blackthorn, Arctic bramble, blunt-leaved sandwort, the ivy and many more species.
Other species include Saaremaa yellow rattle, ox-eyed daisy and tall buttercup. Mushrooms also grow in abundance. The tress found in Estonia includes mountain elm, English oak, Norway maple, European ash and several other varieties. Other undergrowth species are wood stitchwort, yellow archangel, fly honeysuckle, mountain currant and trientale. Besides these, 3,700 species of fungi are found in the region.
