Tallinn University

Tallinn University was established on 18th of March, 2005. It was the outcome of a merging of the Estonian Academic Library and other universities and research institutes of Tallinn. The University of Tallinn is well-known for its departments of social science and humanities.

The Tallinn University of Estonia has the following six departments:
  • Department of Fine Arts
  • Department of Philology
  • Department of Educational Sciences
  • Department of Social Sciences
  • Department of Mathematics and natural science
  • Department of Physical Education
There are also two academic institutes at the University of Tallinn, which are Estonian Institute of Humanities and the Institute of History. Besides these, there are the Baltic Film and Media School and the following four research institutes:
  • Institute of Educational Research
  • Institute of Estonian Demography
  • Institute of International and Social Studies
  • Institute of Ecology
There are even two regional colleges affiliated to the Tallinn University in Estonia. The university has 25 inter-university agreements with a number of universities located at Russia, Europe, Japan and US. About 400 faculties are employed in the university. The central campus of the university is situated on the Narva Road, which has the main building including the students’ residence and the language building.




Nowadays, education in Estonia is categorized into vocational, general, and hobby education.
