Estonia is a country comprising of several counties and islands. Muhu is one of the islands located in the Baltic Sea. It is also called as Muhumaa by the local people of the area.
After Saare and Hiiumaa, Muhu is the third largest island in Estonia. The island has a long historical background and it is believed that it rose out of the sea. Many civilizations have established their foundations in the Muhu Island of Estonia. There is a rural municipality in Muhu along with some villages.
Muhu has been invaded by several external forces several times in its history. This has brought a mixture of cultures and traditions in the island. Wide variety of flora and fauna are also found in the Estonian island.
