It is only 20 kilometers away from Asmara. It is home to the monastery of Debre Bizen that was established by Abune Phillipos in the year 1361. Around 60 monks can be found over here. All of them lead a simple life. While roaming around this monastery one can come across its rich collection of 1,000 medieval manuscripts that includes excellent illustrated parchments covered in cloth, wood and thick leather. Though a small Nefasit is one of the coveted tourists destinations in Eritrea.
