Nakfa is a picturesque town in the Northern part of the country of Eritrea. The Nakfa is also the term used for the currency of Eritrea. This term is derived from the city itself. During the period of Independence war of Eritrea, this remarkable historic town was used to serve as the base for People’s Liberation Front of Eritrea. During the war, Nakfa was subjected to a number of annihilating attacks that only left the Eritrean mosques standing. Trenches surround the entire town.
This beautiful place of Eritrea is nestled in the Sahel Mountains. There are several tourist attractions in Nafka. Here one can come across a huge number of sites including hospitals, factories, underground offices, school and homes.
