Massawa

Massawa is considered to be one of the major tourist hubs of Eritrea. A trip to Eritrea without visiting the picturesque city of Massawa is indeed an incomplete one. This city is in the northeastern part of Eritrea. It is in fact a seaport on the Red Sea and is closely situated beside the Eritrean capital city of Asmara. This charming and lovely city lies partly on some of the islands off coast and partly on the mainland. The harbor is mainly constituted by a channel between the mainland and one of the islands.

There will be nothing wrong if, one says that Massawa is one of the major industrial hubs in Eritrea. The key industries of this place are as follows:
  • Angling
  • Marine salt production
  • Gum making
Like most other Eritrean cities, Massawa also underwent a significant historic past. But presently it is the place of major interest for the travelers across the globe. It is treated as the departure point for the tours to the Dahlak islands and diving excursions. Here the visitors are privileged enough to have safe and secured trips.

Sheikh Said Island is one of the highly preferred tourist attractions in Massawa. It is apt for an excursion or a day trip and is quite easy to reach at an affordable price. Again, in the Northern part of Massawa, lies the majestic white sandy beach of Gurgusum that also worth a visit.

Massawa houses a series of good restaurants and hotels that are proving excellent services to their visiting guests.
