Eritrea markets sell items of daily use such as vegetables, fish, meat, poultry products and items of domestic use such as utensils, clothes, broomsticks and the all odds and ends. Though sophisticated goods are hard to find, the markets are squeaky clean and most of them are covered market places. The covered market places in Asmara are the most important of them all as the major supply of day-to-day items come from these markets.
The Markets Of Eritrea
- The Medeber market: This market is an open market where colorful baskets and the handicrafts items are available. Tourists can take back handmade products as souvenirs from Eritrea. Women folk are often seen grinding spices and working on other farm products. Naturally the spices availed here are their purest forms.
- The Covered Fish market: This too is a covered market on the Harnet Street in Pakistan. This apart there is also a vegetable market that sells all sorts of local fruits and vegetables.
- The Utensils market: This market is located in the backside of the main mosque in Eritrea. The items in this market are available at a very cheap rate.
