Dankalia is one of the Eritrea attractions to the tourists. Dankalia in Eritrea is almost a desert region. Some parts of the landscape are alternated by mountainous lands. The flora and fauna is not very rich in this part of Eritrea. Trees like Acacia and dum-palm are seen over this region.
Dankalia receives very little rainfall through out the year. For about a period of nine months, the area does not receive any rainfall. The wind blowing over this region is very dry. Thus temperature often becomes as high as 50 degree Celsius.
The depth of the depression that has formed in this region is 120 meter below sea level. In Eritrea, this region is very hot and is among the lowest places in the country. This depression is called Danakil, also known as Dallol.
Tourists those who have arranged for Eritrea travel may visit Danakalia. Parts of Danakil region have formed due to volcanic eruptions. Tourists will get to see small volcanic craters in this region of Eritrea. Every year, earthquake frequents this region. There are salty lakes located in this region.
