Eritrea time is calculated three hours ahead of the Greenwich Marine Time or the GMT/UTC. The Greenwich Meridian Time is the standard time. The time zones of all countries in the world are decided by the number of hours they differ from the time of GMT. The latitude and the longitude of Eritrea correspond to 15°17' north and 38°55' east. The time zone of Eritrea is included in the east Africa Time Zone. There is no criterion of adjustment according to daylight saving time in Eritrea.
Daylight saving time adjustment is followed in certain countries of the northern hemisphere so as to adjust the time in summer time so as to get maximum daylight time in the waking hours. For this, the standard time is adjusted one hour ahead of the Greenwich Meridian Time and the countries adjust accordingly. In spite of the fact that Eritrea is located in the northern hemisphere, the day light saving norm need not be followed here.
The Eritrea time is approximately 4 hours and 45 minutes behind the time of New York, two and a half hours behind the time of New Delhi, 10 hours ahead the time in Vancouver, 1 hour ahead of the time in Berlin and four hours behind the Jakarta time.
