Eritrea Industry has suffered a lot during the civil war. The industrial sector of Eritrea has been dismantled during the onslaught of this war. By the time the war came to a halt, production in the industries of Eritrea had ceased.
The infrastructure of the industries in Eritrea was not very efficient and these industries required proper investments to raise the production level. The Government of Eritrea had decided to hand over the Eritrea industries to private sector. In Eritrea by 2002 there were about 2000 companies. The Government of Eritrea had also initiated various other measures to raise the efficiency of the industrial sector of Eritrea.

Among Eritrea industries the prospect of development of oil industry is very bright. Red Sea has a very rich oil reserve. The country has also entered into contracts with other organizations from other countries to fully utilize the reserve in the country. But due to lack of sufficient fund the oil refinery in Assab had to be closed down in 1997.
Eritrea industry is also expanding under the construction industries. As various projects like construction of roadway, airport and dam are being undertaken this industrial sector is developing in Eritrea. The industries are important part of Eritrea economy and business.
