Eritrea export commodities include machinery, foodstuff, building materials, manufactured food items, petroleum products and equipments for transportation. These items are exported to other countries mainly Ethiopia, Italy and Saudi Arabia. Eritrea export is a very crucial factor of Eritrean economy and it also plays an important role in the total revenue of the country.
Restrictions on Eritrea Export
There are a few restrictions that have been imposed on the Eritrea's export of certain commodities to other destinations. They are as follows:
- Human dead body or parts of the body, embryos of animals or human beings, or the remains of the dead
- Living animals and insects
- Explosives (except the1.4 class that can be carried to Germany, Japan, United Kingdom Canada and United Arab Emirates
- C.O.D. shipments
- Firearms, certain weapons along with their parts (between U.S and Puerto Rico)
- APO/FPO addresses
- Coins and stamps that is collectible
- Gambling devices and lottery tickets are prohibited by the state or national law
- Plants excepting a few cut flowers that are accepted by the US
- Money (currency, coins, cash, paper money, stocks, cash letters and bonds)
- Pornography
- Waste material that can cause human damage (such as syringes and the hypodermic needles)
- Shipments and cargoes that may damage other transport
- Shipments whose movements have been restricted by the law
- Dead animals and insects
- Goods that can prove to be dangerous
- Leaking and wet packages
Eritrea export leads to a total profit of 622 million dollars in the year 2004.
