Political Parties El Salvador include the various parties contesting for yearly elections for the position of the president, governor and mayor. There are 6 political parties existing in El Salvador. Party politics was not too active before the 20th century until the time the first political party the "National Republican Alliance" came into existence. It was established in the year 1982 by the famous figure Roberto D' Aubuisson. By the year 1988, almost 3 political parties El Salvador emerged in the political scenario namely the Arena, the PCN and the PDC.
Various Political Parties of El Salvador
The Christian Democratic Party or PDC is one of the strong contenders in the annual political elections. It is a left wing organization that was not fundamentalists in nature. They are less rigid in comparison to other leftist parties existing in several other countries of Latin America. PDC became highly powerful after the elections carried out in the year 1985. The other political parties namely CDU, PNL, PCN also started preparing their grounds in order to contest with the two main parties known as ARENA and PDC.
