El Salvador is one of the important Central American countries, and its location in the Pacific Coast is largely responsible for El Salvador Natural Disaster. The recurrence of natural disasters has also been largely responsible for the social and economic inequality in the country. However, as a result of important measures adopted by the El Salvador Government, situation in the country is much brighter.
El Salvador Earthquakes
The country lies in the Ring of Fire of Pacific Coast, which makes it prone to earthquakes. In fact earthquakes have proven to be one of the most devastating natural calamities of El Salvador. The earthquake that occurred in the country in 1986 proved to be very devastating, killing almost 1000 people. Another catastrophic earthquake, which deserves a mention here, took place in El Salvador in the year 2001. More than 1000 people lost their lives in this incident and countless people were rendered homeless.
El Salvador Hurricane
The geographical location of El Salvador also makes the country susceptible to hurricanes. In 1998, more than 10,000 people lost their lives in the deadly and destructive Mitch Hurricane, which raged through the country, damaging everything in its way.
Other El Salvador Natural Disasters
Other than the above mentioned recurring and fatal natural occurrences, the infrastructure, lifestyle and economy of the country has been also ravaged by other grave natural incidents such as floods, volcano and drought. These incidents have also been responsible for the widespread chronic diseases and epidemics that affected the population of the country for years.
However, it should also be mentioned here that helpful governmental aids have been always forwarded to the victims of El Salvador Natural Disaster.
