Abu Sir

Abu Sir is a major tourist destination in Egypt that reminds of the forgotten kings of the 5th Dynasty. This necropolis, in Egypt, is situated in the southern part of Cairo and is also a part of the path of pyramid fields, running along the river Nile.

The street to Abu Sir run through the south of Cairo. The valley is amazingly green and is lined with tiny farms.

While moving around the territory of Abu Sir, the tourists will come across the seven pyramids that served as the main royal necropolis in the Fifth Dynasty. It is assumed that the construction quality of the Abusir pyramids is really fantastic and this is probably the reason for its huge popularity.

The other remarkable three pyramids are those of Neferirkare, Nyuserre Ini and Sahure. This site also houses the unfinished Pyramid of Neferefre. It is said that most of the pyramids at Abusir were constructed as step pyramids and the biggest of them is probably the Pyramid of Neferirkare. There are many historians who think that it was originally been constructed as a step pyramid and later was transformed into a true pyramid by filling its steps with loose masonry.
