The
Egyptian Umm Ali is a delicious dessert, which utilizes many exotic ingredients and assorted nuts. The dish, made from dairy ingredients can
be served on special occasions and festivals and it will surely be a runaway hit with guests and host alike. This traditional dish of Egypt can be served differently and in some dishes additional ingredients are added to make them even more delicious. Cooking the Umm Ali in an oven makes the process easier. Umm Ali is somewhat similar in taste to that of bread pudding. The name ‘Umm Ali’ in Egyptian means mother of Ali.

Cooking Egyptian Umm Ali
Place the puff pastry sheets onto a greased baking bowl and cook the same in a preheated oven for 15 minutes until olden brown in color. The Preheating temperature of the oven should be fixed at 400° Centigrade. The cooked pastry should now be broken down to half inch pieces and the assorted nuts and coconut flakes should now be added to the bread paste. The mixture is ready to be purred into a 9X11-baking dish and set this aside. Meanwhile, heat the condensed milk, water and vanilla extract to bring it to a boil and ensure that the ingredients form a fine blend. Add this to the baking pan mixture and bake the mixture in oven for 15 minutes. Let the cooked dish stand and set for 5 minutes. The
Egyptian Umm Ali is ready to be served and enjoyed. The dish should be served warm. Dollops of vanilla ice cream can also be added to the Umm Ali.
