Iput I and Khuit Queens Pyramids, Saqqara belong to the ancient period of Egypt. Both the pyramids of Iput and Khuit Queens were discovered by Loret in early 1920s and 1898s respectively. Iput and Khuit were Teti’s queens. Teti ruled Egypt during the 6th Dynasty.
Iput I’s pyramid is enclosed within a complex, which has very uncommon features. The wall of the complex is made of limestone. The pyramid has three layers or floors. It is believed to be a mastaba or tomb, which later turned into a pyramid form. There is a mortuary temple of the queen in this complex. The offering hall is located inside the temple. The hall has false doors made of limestone. The store room lies to the north of the offering hall. There are four pillars in the entrance hall that are unique in its style. The temple also contains a courtyard that has several pillars.
Khuit’s pyramid has an underground chamber. The coffin inside the chamber is made up of pink granite and has a great appeal. On the eastern side of the pyramid, there is a mortuary temple with an offering hall.
Iput I and Khuit Queens Pyramids are very popular tourist attractions in Egypt.
