Mestizos are the blend of Spanish and Indian origin. The world Mestizos Day is celebrated on 6th of October, every year. As this community is the mixture of the Spanish and Indian origin, they were unique. Therefore, they decided to form a new community and named it 'Mestizos'. Since then, the day is celebrated as Mestizos Day.
Mestizos in Ecuador are a majority community. When the Spanish colonist left, some of the Spanish population decided to settle down in Ecuador itself. Then some people from other community also settled in Ecuador and among them were the some Indians. The year 1533 is the birth year of the first mestizo child from Spanish and Indian origin. A substantial population of Mestizos came into existence not before the year 1537.
The social status of the Mestizos was never a poor one. They were always in demand by the Indian industries in Ecuador. Since the community named itself Mestizos, it became easier for the Spanish society to differ their community. The majority of the Ecuadorian population consists of Mestizo community now-a-days and carry a lot of importance.
The Mestizos day is celebrated by the non- Mestizos also. As it is known that the Ecuadorians believe in celebrating all the festivals together, Mestizos day celebration in Ecuador is one of them.
