Life during the Pre-Columbian Era
During the Pre-Columbian Era, Ecuador was largely inhabited by a number of tribes that were always engaged in trifle struggles with each other. Esmeralda, the Manta, the Huancavilca, and the Puná, were the four distinct group which were culturally related to each other, mainly occupied the coastal lowlands stretching from north to south. They were hunters, fishermen, agriculturalists, and traders in their profession. Inter Coastal Trade relation was also very important.
Thus, the Pre-Columbian Era, which came to an end with the conquest of Ecuador by the Incas, played an important role in shaping up the overall history of Ecuador.
