South America

South America lies mostly in the southern hemisphere and somewhat entirely in the western hemisphere. South America is a continent which is of Americans. It is the forth largest continent. South America has a long history which spans the complete range of cultural and civilizational forms. As of 2005, the population of South America is estimated to be more than 371,000,000.

South America is divided between 12 independent countries, which are:

  • Venezuela

South America has certain unique destinations. It has world's largest river by volume, Amazon River; the world's highest waterfall, Angel Falls; the driest desert, Atacama Desert; the highest railroad, Ticlio Peru; highest commercially navigable lake in the world, Lake Titicaca; the longest mountain range, the Andes. These are some of the unique destinations in South America which has made South America famous.

The major natural resources found in South America are silver, copper, gold, iron ore, tin, and oil. South America is rich in resources as well as with its numerous attractive places it succeeds in attracting tourists too. It is connected to North America by the Isthmus of Panama and it is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean and on the north and the east by the Atlantic Ocean.

The climatic conditions and the unique destinations in South America make it a hotspot for tourists and continue to allure them.
