Harvest Festival

The Harvest Festival in Ecuador is known by the name of 'Corpus Christi'. In the month of June and the ninth Thursday after Easter is the day when the Harvest Festival is usually celebrated in Ecuador. The harvest festival is celebrated with great pomp and show. The Ecuador Festivals reflect the religious inclination of the natives.

Ecuador is situated on the northwestern coast of South America. It is a highland, where the people love to celebrate even small occasions with great joy. The country hardly misses any chance of partying and enjoying. Life is very simple in Ecuador. It is a heavenly feeling being in Ecuador for the tourists because of the continuous party mood among the people.

The Corpus Christi is celebrated mainly among the farmers of the highland. As this is one of the biggest celebrations of the country, it has been declared as a national holiday. Many programs take place during the celebration of Corpus Christi. The two most eye-catching events of Corpus Christi Celebration are:

  • The dances by the traditional dancers, all through the streets, wearing the traditional dresses and masks.
  • They also perform a circus activity. While the masked dancers are performing, a 12meter high greased pole is to be climbed by someone. Reaching the top will get the person a bumper prize.

All these activities end up with a good dinner and soothing singing performances. The harvest festival or the Corpus Christi is a celebration that involves all colors, music and performances.
